Publication Ethics

The publication ethics statement of Jurnal Mekanikal is strictly based on the standards and guidelines set by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) to ensure scientific integrity.

The publication of a peer-reviewed article in Jurnal Mekanikal is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. Therefore, high ethical standards are expected from all parties involved: Authors, Editors, and Reviewers.

1. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present an accurate account of the original research performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works. Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification is strictly prohibited.
  • Multiple Publications: An author should not concurrently publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal.
  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given through accurate citations and bibliographies.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fair Play & Objectivity: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely for their intellectual and scientific content without regard to race, gender, religious belief, or origin of the authors.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the assigned reviewers.
  • Publication Decisions: Editors are fully responsible for deciding which of the submitted manuscripts should be published based on scientific validity and its impact.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Decisions: Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and may assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts.
  • Promptness: Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified or lacks sufficient time to review the manuscript should immediately notify the editor.
  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal or subjective criticism of the author is inappropriate. All evaluations must be supported by clear scientific arguments.
